QB Thoughts

If Fuente is leaning to Bush, maybe he is trying to give the other two more reps to see if Jackson can separate himself enough to maybe thinking of red-shirting Hooker. The importance is if you lean on Bush's running, more than likely, you will see the #2 QB in more often due to tweaking of the ankle and out a couple of plays/series or a concussion protocol that would keep Bush out for the remainder of a game. If the #2 QB comes in and doesn't quite have the running game going, you can open up that passing playbook and completely change your offense during the game if need be.

I know that it is obvious you need your #2 guy ready in case of #1 goes down, but my thinking is that Fuente is allowing the battle take this long (even if he knows the order now) because he wants to go the Bush route. That way, he can limit some of the playbook since Bush isn't getting all the reps (and won't need it if limiting the play-book), but it can get him some extra reps to those back-ups that the will need before the majority of the practice snaps go to the #1 QB during the season. Another thought of going the Bush route is due to the lack of WR experience. This would allow the other 2 QBs time to gel w/ the upcoming WR in case they need to be called upon later in the season. Bush can go out, do a one or two read play, and take off if need be.

In reality, who knows. After all that, Fuente does the complete opposite of what I am thinking and goes w/ Hooker.
