I understand the point you are stressing. My point is that


Motley had to be intelligent enough to see and understand that his talent and abilities were clearly lacking in comparison to Evans. He practiced everyday with him and had feedback from the coaching staff on the positives and negatives of his performance and preparation.

One would assume that AJ has the same input and feedback from the coaching staff and being intelligent would have been well aware of his standing in comparison to JJ. Being that the decision was made and announced this early, the gap between the two must have been greater and the difference more obvious this year as opposed to last year.

That being stated, wouldn't it be condescending or accusatory to assume that AJ would not be mature enough or intelligent enough to see the obvious and understand his position?
