Holy Hokie, where do I start with a response to that post?
We were in Scotland early June for our 40th anniversary. On our first trip 10 years ago we toured Blair Castle - very interesting place. They actually had two air rifles from the 1800s in the entrance hall. Lewis & Clark had an air rifle exploring the Louisiana Purchase and I was close enough to breath on two of them.
Always nice to get some whisky over there that can't be found here but look into a business called Cadenhead's that I believe can ship you just about anything produced in Scotland. I've never used them so I don't know what amount of money we're talking. Might want to check them out before you open that bottle. Still, never forget Rule of Scotch #1 - scotch wasn't made to remain in the bottle.
Please tell your wife my birthday is February 22. I usually get at least a bottle of single malt for Christmas from my wife, sometimes a bottle from my kids, too. We've toured Tomatin and I've had Talisker and Dalwhinnie.
If you get back to Scotland, specifically Edinburgh, go to the Scotch Whisky Experience near Edinburgh Castle on the Royal Mile. They have the worlds largest collection of single malts - incredible to see. Some of the bottles are so old they are empty even tho not one bottle has ever had the seal broken. The corks dried and the scotch evaporated out. So there is no reason to hold on to that 1 of 3000 bottle. Enjoy it!!
