If Babcock can negotiate a payday that is greater than


what VT would make hosting Liberty or Richmond, then I don't see why he wouldn't want to move either of those games to a later date or cancel them outright. FWIW Michigan received $6 million for playing Florida at Jerry's World. I don't see Babcock turning down $5-$6 million so VT can only make $1-$2 million playing a home game. I believe VT is only playing 1 OOC game against a P5 school for both seasons, so there may be some incentive to try to get a second game on either schedule. The reason I mentioned Michigan is because if VT is coming of a Top 10 finish from the previous year and projected to start out in the Top 10, then Babcock has leverage to negotiate a larger payday than what VT may have received in the past.
