If enough voters vote based on the name on the front of the jersey, then you could call that a conspiracy of sorts. 1 AP voter decided that FSU (0-1) should move up from 11th to 4th this week even though it hasn't played a game since Week 1 and it has lost its starting QB for the year. I believe that same voter thought UGA should move up from 13th to 6th after beating Samford over the weekend. Then there is 1 voter who believes that VT shouldn't be ranked this week. Also, there are several voters that think several non-blue blood teams, who are currently undefeated, shouldn't be ranked, but LSU and Stanford should be ranked.

I know it is the AP Poll and it doesn't mean anything. However, if there are enough people on the Committee that have a similar mindset, then it undermines the idea that every P5 school has a shot to make the Playoffs in a given year. If the Committee wants the 4 teams that will generate the most ratings, then why bother to have a season? Instead, auction off the 4 slots to the 4 highest bidders and call it a day.
