Talking to former players... it wasn't just stealing signals. It was also
that we would have easy give aways of information. Olinemen would line up in a certain position with certain foot positioning and Clemson was calling out the plays.
We had a lot of formations, but only play per formation. Clemson had enough time and analysts that they just picked the play based on formation, lineup, footing, etc.
They may have also been stealing signals from the sideline, but I don't know about that. The speculation was that certain lineups and positioning was giving away the play.
