What he fails to mention is that UVA
hasn`t played a team that is close to being ranked. They lost by 17 points at home to a mediocre Indiana team. They beat a non P5 BSU team that is not close to the BSU of old under Peterson and they barely beat a Duke team that was blown out at home by Miami. The author said that the score could have been more lopsided. He fails to mention that the game could have been even closer if Benkert`s second pick 6 hadn`t been called back due to a penalty. UVA is benefiting this season from weak opponents,so far. They may not be tested until they play Miami since UNC,BC and Pitt are not good teams.
UVA may end up in a bowl this season. But,their future is actually bleak. They will lose many of their top players after this season(Blanding,Kiser,Brown, probably Benkert) and,due to weak recruiting in recent years, their pipeline is filled with 2-3* players which is not a recipe to beat P5 teams in the future.
