Those averages are a little deceptive due to the Tennessee game.

He carried 44 times during that game and some of that was dictated by 1) Marshall's inability to execute the give/keep read in that game which caused the abandonment of the triple option; and 2) Tennessee's inability to adjust to the QB counter play that hit for gains over and over again.

Since then, he has had 58 carries in 3 games. Still probably a little higher than they would like, but more sustainable than 44 carries. Marshall has come a long way with his reads since week 1, but he's still improving there and probably winds up keeping more on the triple option than the reads dictate he should. He's also a dynamic runner, though, and doesn't take a lot of stationary pocket hits in comparison to other quarterbacks.

Time will tell whether he gets injured or not, but injuries happen at the quarterback position whether the quarterback is running or standing in the pocket.
