WV is a much different world than Northern VA where you niece lives. Her experience in this area is not mine. I used to coach for a club that has traditionally put out top teams nationally out there. I very much disagree with the comment regarding athletes. I did have multi-sports players who participated in travel hockey, baseball, and basketball. (Not one play football). The gap in soccer is out of those athletes, who gets cherry picked into the upper teams...that is where politics has become a big issue. The best don't get to the best teams and get the recognition they deserve.
