Almost all football and baseball players are in it for the fun of it
.assuming they are rational people. An extremely small percentage of youth football players end up on collegiate scholarship, and an infinitesimal percentage end up on a professional roster. Nobody that know of that I played football with as a kid was in it to become professional. Why assume that one sport's youth participant profile is different than the other?
As to the point: it is not realistic to say that a sport played by nearly 1/3 of the country is a sport of the 'privileged', especially when such a high concentration of hispanics play.
