Re: Kneeling cheerleader...

Let's get off the hype train and put this in perspective. First of all, exactly how is your Hokie Club money supporting a cheerleader? No scholarships go to cheerleaders and believe me, they put in a lot more time and effort for the program than most alumni ever have. Second, kneeling is a very much a sign of respect in my book. I see plenty of fans pushing through the stands during the national anthem instead of standing quietly or singing. That's much worse because they are ruining other's experience while also showing no respect to the flag or anthem in their oblivious rush to find their seat before Sandman. Third, freedom means putting up with things I don't necessarily agree with, but freedom allows all of us to show and own up to our differences. The plight of Americans with different ethnic and religious backgrounds in this country is very much of concern and I'm all for calling attention to that. Finally, I see donating or buying a ticket as a means to support, not exert "ownership" over the program. Let's hope we all remain free to donate, free to participate, and free to express different opinions respectfully in this country. Go Hokies!
