Lots of teams (probably most) play without a true 5 these days ...
the game has changed over the past 30 years. There aren't enough 6'10"+ guys who can catch, shoot, and move their feet to feed 120 teams. Coaches figured that out and started adjusting to smaller lineups. Shooting 3's with more proficiency has accelerated the change in the game. If you can get one of the 6 or 7 true 'bigs' then take 'em and enjoy them for the year or two before they head to the NBA. Otherwise, you almost have to play small and try to win the matchup wars.
