It does dispel this fantasy that college athletics turn a pure profit.


Take away the student fee support, the property tax waiver and the low bond rates that finance the construction and all athletic departments will run in the red.

I agree that it is an insignificant factor in the rising cost of tuition. That is a debate for another day.
