Thoughts from a Cane Fan

Howdy. Thought I would stop by this site and check out the thoughts of the Tech fanbase in advance of the game on Saturday night.

As expected, lots of typical bashing of our fans, culture, etc., but it's all good. Actually, much of it is pretty funny. I know you all hear the stereotypes about Tech fans as well, and our fans (many of whom have never been to Blacksburg) are probably just as guilty as others in perpetuating them.

In any event, I'm hoping for a good game on Saturday and that those of you who are at the game have a great time. Saturday night is shaping up to be a beautiful night in South Florida, and the Coastal Division is long overdue to receive some positive national exposure this year. I'm sick of the constant Big 10 games! If you are down for the game and have the time, spend a few minutes on campus and in Coral Gables. It usually surprises folks who tend to think of my alma mater as a typical downtown, public university.

As far as the game goes, most Canes fans that I know are expecting our run of success to end this weekend. My Canes haven't been terribly impressive, and while neither of us have chalked up victories over quality opponents, you all have looked much better than us. We have talent, but lack consistency. And, as always, Foster's defense looks formidable. On defense, we tend to be very aggressive, but our aggression often puts us out of position and can result in big plays. I am fearful that Jackson will take advantage.

In any event, most of us (excluding a handful of typical internet extremists) are thrilled that our program finally appears to be headed in the right direction with Coach Richt. From what I've seen, your future looks pretty bright too -- I suspect that once again we will be seeing Miami and VT battling annually for first place in the division.

Go Canes!
