What do you all think about plays changed at the line of scrimmage?

I personally hate changing plays at the LOS for a bunch of reasons.

1) It seems to ruin tempo. If the offense is on the move and plays are clicking, all of a sudden assignments change and tempo is halted. Mentally, it seems like it would suck to be focused on one plan, then change it seconds before execution. (I feel this effects the linemen more, plus it stinks to get set and then pause a long time or get unset.)

2) They seem to be to predictable. I'd like to see a break-down on the plays, but it seems like it is usually a QB keeper. On one play during the Miami game, JJ even motioned with both hands to himself by tapping his own chest... sure enough, he kept the ball and didn't get any yards.

3) The clock comes into play. As the playclock winds down, JJ starts working to get the play going too fast... He looks rushed. Often, the snap is just in time.

4) The defense can get a jump on the ball. Because of the play clock coming into play, the defense now knows the snap is imminent and can easily get a faster jump on the ball to disrupt the play. The announcers during the Miami game pointed this out... and it is a great observation.

5) They don't seem to result in the desired result. Yes, I recall some times the changes worked, but I wonder, if the original play was still in, even with the look the D was giving, would the O have better tempo, control of the playclock, and a better jump to actually make the original play work better.

If any of you have stats to prove or disprove any of this, especially number 5, please share. I have never liked the playcalls changing from the sideline... but perhaps this year it just seems more often and less advantageous. What are your thoughts?
