Generally the gas tax does not even cover the full cost of roads (I believe the # I heard was something like half). I don't know about the ped bridge in Roanoke but I fully support infrastructure projects that enable people to get around on foot. There's not nearly enough of this in the US and other developed countries make us look like fools.
