issued. The refs are considered for employment on an annual basis. Those that don’t make the grade are not hired. There is a lot of mandatory training and reviews that the conferences sponsor.

One of my kids referees college and high school football. It’s not as easy as you might think. You just hope you see what you are supposed to see and make the right call. A lot of the P-5 conference games have a lot of elite players, the games are really fast and it’s easy to miss a call.
