Chew on these fun stats. The two guys I immediately think of when I consider the best of the best when it comes to college football coaching are Knute Rockne and the Bear. In 1924 Knute Rockne signed his contract with ND (one simple page long- no kidding) for $10,000. Today that amount would be $142,457.89.

Then there's Bear Bryant. In 1982 Alabama paid him what was considered the top salary among coaches- $450,000 a year. Today with inflation that is $1,141,489.

Are these guys of today THAT much better at coaching that they are receiving 7 and 53X more than the best in their profession would have made in 2017?
