I mean, this sounds totally crazy but given Tenn's um.....struggles.....to find a coach, you almost wonder if they wouldn't turn toward a young guy with pedigree.

Whoever takes that job is gonna have to have a massive amount of energy and patience to revitalize the program and hit the recruiting trail hard. That seems right up Shane's alley.

Tenn watched VT rise to prominence in the ACC at the same time their program was on the decline. You've gotta think they respected the hell out of Frank even if they wouldn't admit it. And even though it would be Shane, not Frank, that they're hiring, you're getting the benefits of playing for and coaching under a legend. A football household, as they like to say.

And I'm pretty sure Frank would advise Shane to take it if offered, although who knows. I know Frank has a house in Georgia and loves it there so he's lucky that Shane is also coaching at UGA right now but eventually you know Shane will move on to some other place. Could it be Tenn? Frank might not mind having another place to call home in the Smokies, either.

Just a thought. As for whether Shane is "good enough" for Tenn's boosters, well, I think the "we can get whoever we want, we're Tennessee" ship sailed long ago. They are only going to get more rejections. Hell, maybe Shane wouldn't even take it. I think he would though.
