Why is a message board playing jury without evidence or facts?

I know the real reason, but to avoid name calling let's review the information

First, a gun, a scale, and a small amount of weed was found in his apartment. Only one of those items is illegal (in this state). Now let's dive into this I keep hearing so many people talk about how terrible he must be due to smoking weed. I'm sorry but I guarantee you all drank underage (illegal) and some might have even driven after a few too many (illegal and dangerous). I'm not going to get into the debate of legalizing marijuana but from a safety and health perspective it's no worse than underage drinking or drunk driving.

Second, people keep saying these three things together make him a "thug" (hate that term because strangely people only use it to describe one race - really shows the user's internal view on equality). I'm sorry but if you let me pick three random objects from your house I guarantee I can make you look terrible without any other context. Everyone is purely speculating these were all used together without any facts. If they were even probably used together the prosecutor would not have dropped down the charges - so why does the internet hoard get to make uniformed charges? I come from a family of cops, I spent most of my childhood in the station, cops collect as much evidence as possible and let the prosecutor make the case. There is no telling if the scale was in the kitchen and used for cooking (typically what kitchen scales are used for) and if the gun was for self defense (like most other gun owners to include yours truly).

I'm tired of uninformed people getting on their soapbox around here. Give it a break and you'll live a happier life (or at least make the people around you less miserable). Even if he did break the law, so have every single one of us at some point in our lives and if we got caught then I know damn well we would all want a second chance. In summary stop being judgmental a-holes and act like an empathetic human being.
