has bee battling a form of blood cancer and it's been a real struggle for him. The kids rallied around him, as you can imagine.

I'm not sure the long term prognosis, but he was fighting to hang on and keep coaching this year before he retired. It would have been a nice "feel good" story...Of course, life isn't about feel good stories.
