Except an athletic scholarship and stipend is a form of contract
Just like with an academic scholarship. Does the school allow an academic student to keep the scholarship if he/she decides to skip the final exam (aka the bowl game) or is the final exam part of the terms and conditions of receiving the academic scholarship?
My point is that athletic scholarships have their own terms and conditions that the (student?)-athlete must adhere to in order to receive it. If that athlete doesn't adhere to the terms and conditions, then I am sure there are punishments spelled out in the contract.
