Why Miami?

Hey all,
This is my first message board post so be gentle. Since recruiting is closing in on early signing day I've been thinking a lot about our deficiencies. I know, to the outsider, Blacksburg doesn't have the "destination school" appeal. I would disagree, but I have a special place in my heart for this little town in south-west Virginia. Back to the point. I get that recruits desire schools ranked in the top 10 regularly. They want to play at a school that they expect to be winning and those programs get a lot of attention. One thing that I really am curious about is: why Miami? They haven't truly been a powerhouse. Is it simply because of the location? Do recruits really think "they're back" or at least close? As far as on field performance goes, they aren't doing any better than Tech. Sure, they are ranked higher but they aren't a true top 10 team, yet recruits are flocking there as though Miami is going to be a perennial national title player. I'm genuinely not bashing or viewing this with blinders. I get why Clemson and, until recently, FSU have had so much allure, but even when Miami is down there is so much hype. Why? What makes them special despite their record? (Disregarding this year's better than average performance)
