As Loeffler would say, this year Buzz does not have a "dude" on the team

These guys individually (on paper anyway) are pretty talented. But I think we are seeing a classic case where the whole is less than the sum of its parts.

These guys don't appear to have much camaraderie, despite Buzz's techniques. They are not reading each other's minds in terms of where to be. Last night I saw more "lone wolf" plays from VT guys than I'd seen in a long time. Bibbs was guilty the most often, but everyone did it.

Most importantly, we don't appear to have a "dude" who carries the team on its back and finds a way to win. We had 2 of those last year--LeDay and Allen, but especially LeDay.

When you're winning against lesser competition, the lack of said dude is not evident (or even important). But it is now. And I'm not sure we have anyone on the team that fits the bill. Robinson is probably the closest; the man plays with a lot of passion and energy, but I think his skill set is not really on par with that of LeDay or Allen and he is mistake/turnover prone.

This game on Saturday won't tell us everything (unless we lose--then it will), but it should tell us how badly the guys want to get back to having fun and winning.
