I agree with your points except there are lots of ex college and
nfl players, yes a few have cognitive issues later in life. This is no different than the rest of the population. Women do not play alot of contact sports, and women get dementia. Yes, it may be a risk of an activity but there is risk in any activity. I think it has more to do with the individual and his/her genetics then what sport they played or for how long. But as we know there is no way to predict who is going to have cognitive issues and what issue the brain is having usually til after death.
