W&M athletic program is balanced within the university's larger focus on academics. (W&M is almost IVY league in academics).

JMU within the confines of Div IAA/CAA have found a niche for balanced broad athletic program but allows for cost containment. They see the challenges that ODU has had in the transition and operating in Div IA for football, conferences, revenue streams and other demands.
