I suspect the DB tried to adjust his tackle so it would be inbounds...


I think he tried to do something different considering a FG wins if the receive goes out of bounds... and he ended up whiffing. No player is going to risk ending his career, and his lifelong reputation, to fix a game in the playoffs - albeit on the very last fluke play.
