Key to turning around the ship

NAW is a very talented player who looks like he has lost his confidence in the looks he's getting. He and J-Rob are the only guys on the roster who are equally as dangerous driving the ball as they are from behind the arc (when they're playing at a high level).

There were a number of times during the last three games where VT had a chance to make a run, and they got a great look for NAW, but he didn't knock it down on a shot where he wouldnt have thought twice about hitting it early in the year.

You can really tell in his footwork prior to the shot, he pulls up just short of a balanced shooting position and is basically shooting at a moving target.

NAW isn't the only issue, that's for sure. But he's the one thing that, if fixed, can make this team a new threat. His driving, along with J-Rob on the floor will stress a defense to help and recover on some good shooters.

Bibbs and Hill (Hill especially) are operating with defenders in their laps on a drive. Teams arent closing out on NAW as they were early in the season so his driving lanes/angles are cut short (and he's not experienced enough to generate his own). The one thing that fixes both of those problems are NAW hitting open shots. Hit that three and driving lanes open for NAW, and open threes for Hill/Bibbs/J-Rob.

Do rebounds hurt? Yep!

Is there a path to fixing the rebounding issue prior to next season? Not really.

Does foul trouble in the post hurt VTs chances to be consistently competitive? Yep!

Is there a path to fixing that? Not really.

But if NAW gets going, all those issues will become less of an issue due to a change in identity. You can rely less on being a transition team, and become a threat off the dribble in the half court. Then teams will be forced to get smaller to defend drives. Then rebounds and foul trouble become less of a problem.

Tough to hang the hopes of a season on a such a young kid? Yep!

Do the Hokies really have much of an option otherwise? Not really.
