Its such a silly argument on its face


If the schools were "artificially capping the worth of these athletes" the athletes would just go somewhere else.

The truth is, there has been no market established for these players skills until they polish those skills in college.

Sounds a lot like an engineer or an accountant.

In addition, there is another market for college basketball players. They could go overseas and make good $$$, yet they continue to go to college in droves. It must not be such a bad deal.

One of the reasons its not such a bad deal is instruction from some of the best coaches available, along with training and nutrition that is among the best. Guess what, those folks are demanding big $$$ these days.

Just like engineering and accounting professors.
