Just got this email from the Hokie Club. If you sell your parking pass,

you are on the hook if the person you sold it to violates any policies. Seller beware..........

Dear Valued Hokie Club Member,

Thank you for your support of Hokie student-athletes through your giving to the Hokie Scholarship Fund!

Recently, we sent you an invitation to participate in a brief survey regarding your 2017 football parking experience. We are very appreciative of those who have taken the time to complete the survey as we value your feedback. As we strive to create the best donor experience possible, survey responses provided our office with further insight into how we can best serve you and improve your tailgating experience for the 2018 season and beyond.

It is evident from the survey results that our fans highly value the tailgating experience. One item that stood out from the responses was a deep concern among a high percentage of donors that something needs to be done with:

Overcrowded roadway issues
Excessive tailgate noise
Parking space infringement

Therefore, for the 2018 football season, we will increase parking lot security and enforce the existing tailgating policy listed below.

Hokie Club Parking Rules

Tailgating is permitted in designated parking lots on game day. Tailgating must be confined to the area immediately behind your vehicle. Please do not block roadways or sidewalks. Parking lots will be monitored throughout the game.

For safety reason as well as emergency access if necessary, the following are NOT PERMITTED in the parking lots:

Throwing objects – This includes, but is not limited to, footballs and Frisbees.
Blocking the roadway – placing tables, chairs, or other items that may extend into the roadway beyond the bounds of the parking space provided is not permitted.
Blocking the sidewalks – The sidewalks must remain open for pedestrian travel.
Sound Systems / Noise amplification – This includes bands and DJ equipment.
Cutting, removing, or destroying the boundary ropes or signs.
Destroying landscaping or fencing.
Underage drinking.

Improper use of parking passes:

All cars in the contributor lots must keep their parking pass displayed at all times, or be subject to towing.

The owner of the pass is responsible for any violations of the policy due to someone using the pass. I.E. if you lend it out or sell it and there is a violation, you, as the owner of the pass, are responsible if any penalty occurs.

Again, we appreciate your support of Virginia Tech Athletics and our 579 Hokie student-athletes and look forward to a successful 2018 season.

Go Hokies!
