That might be right or...

at least a nice way to say he has no spine. I will have to refresh my memory as to the specifics at Washington and LSU but, my perception was he got out of town just before the posse at both schools leaving his successors to clean up messes that he at least looked the other way on and may have had a hand in creating. Since being at the NCAA he has provided all the right sound bites in press conferences but, if you look at his follow through he does not walk the walk. He even testified before Congress in 2014 I think on sexual assault and policies/procedures at athletic departments but, since his testimony you could charitably term his progress toward following through on his commitments as proceeding at a glacial pace at best. To be clear, while I do not believe Emmert is a good leader the decision to put him in charge lies solely with the NCAA member institutions and they got exactly what they wanted, a guy they could control. The NCAA is that rare organization that strives to get a little worse with each successor. Some of the early leaders were effective and needed to get the organization structure in place but, over the years the position has become more about being controllable and a potential golden parachute for a member of the club.
