I have said this before about the Power Conference tourneys...
I believe the selection committee has an idea who their 68 teams are before the top conference tournaments start. I use to think years ago when someone was close, if they could win one or two games in the conference tournament will help their cause. I don't see that - the only way conference tournament games matter is if someone out of the blue wins the tourney or it affects #1/#2 seeds. Otherwise, if you have a strong enough resume before the tournament, a 1st round loss will not affect that. The opposite holds true as well - if you don't have enough of a resume before the tourney starts, one or two wins will not help that.
Thus, w/ VT's OOC schedule, I think 10-8 in ACC play gets VT in if there is a weak bubble/not a lot of underdogs when conference tourneys. 11-7 gets them in - 9-9 would be a 1/2 seed in NIT. Nothing changes this based on conf tourney play (unless VT wins it all).
