If I was king for a day, I would put major money in renovating Cassell as
opposed to building a new arena. So much history, can be a huge home court advantage when packed, great sight lines all around, perfect location for students and fans. It is such a signature building on campus and right beside the basketball facility. It is basically a Lane Stadium for basketball. The new nutrition complex also will tie into Cassell. In fact, if I was Whit, explore options to add/build up/renovate Cassell as part of that entire project.
The key is winning. Continue to win and go to NCAA Tourney and Cassell returns to a Cameron environment where the new and shiney just doesnt matter. I would rather have more money to increase Buzz and assistants' salaries like we are for football, too. Now, if some big corporation or bank like Union Bank wants to fund or help fund a new basketball arena...becomes a whole new ball game. I personally prefer keeping Cassell as a focal point somehow.
