Joe Lunardi said he dropped VT because
how the committee treated teams with poor non-conference schedules in the the top 16 release. In examining the team sheets I can infer he is talking about Mich State (3 seed) which has a #210 non-conf SOS and very high human/computer poll numbers. But if you look at Quadrant 1/2 wins they have 3 Q1s and 5 Q2s. 8 total which is not good for a top 3 seed and their best true road win is Maryland. For a reference point, VT has 4 Q1s, 4 Q2s, and a much better road resume while being no where near a top 16 conversation. In look at the teams above MSU, the one in question would be Duke who has the same number of Q1 and Q2 wins. Difference is: Duke beat *cough* MSU on a neutral floor, Florida and Texas on a neutral floor, and at Miami. MSU beat UNC on a neutral floor, UConn on a neutral floor (so what), and at UMd/Ind (so what). [Post edited by Colonel Jessup at 02/13/2018 08:46AM]
