Definitely something to consider


I'm just not sold that a renovation of Cassell is going to cost significantly less than the $100 million for a new arena.

As for what to do with Cassell, that is another interesting question.

And FWIW, IF a proposal comes along that can make Cassell perfectly viable for the long term, hold at least around 9K fans, and can come in around $50 million or less, I'd be open to the idea. But from what I gather, a significant renovation is going to lose us too many seats and cost nearly as much as the new $100 million arena to begin with.

From reading the few tea leaves we get, I get the impression that this seems to be the conclusion being reached in the athletic department too. That renovation will be too costly and not provide enough long term benefit.
