The media, in particular ESPN, heavily influences people's opinions on who the best players are and the top picks. It's not till after the season when everyone nis on tape and the impartial gurus start digging that players like Tim and Tremaine start getting the recognition that their play deserved.

Settle's tape is insane, probably top 3 of all DT's eligible for the draft, and his measurements are off the charts. He played something like 80-90% of snaps this year and people keep saying he's not in shape, which is kind of ridiculous when you think about the amount of time he was on the field. The draftniks are seeing that ability on tape, seeing he's only 20 years old, and are expecting big things at the combine based on his explosiveness on tape these last 2 years.

VT fans selfishly wanted him to stay, so when he declared everyone piled on that he wasn't ready and would be lucky to sneak into the 3rd round; that's patently false when you look at his film and track record (no injuries, plays great against top competition, single-handedly destroys running games).
