Floor awareness can also be a big factor


Need to be able to understand floor spacing, and be able to anticipate what is going to happen next. Otherwise your help and recover technique is going to lag.

Similar concept with a point guard and floor vision -- some have it, and some don't. But it's somewhat innate and hard to teach.

Physical limitations -- lateral movement and loose hips play a role (as you point out).

But effort and want to are probably >50%
