Question on the number of living alumni


I was curious about the VT alumni % per state. So I took the number of alumni per state from the Hokie Club website (including DC and International) and it only summed to 219,057.

Do you know what the disconnect is here? The 2014 number in the article is ~238,000 and VT advertises ~250,000 living alumni currently.
