NCAA Overview

125 - With Kyle barely squeezing into the tourney I don't think you can complain about his draw. Moisey did beat Kyle earlier in the year 10-3. If he loses he will most likely face JR Wert from Rider (an C'Burg alum). I think this is a winnable match. If he does win, as the seeds fall he would face 14 seed Welch. I like the chances of stealing a point or two from Norstrem.

133 - I think Gus got a tough first round draw. He is facing Tucker, who he beat 3-2 earlier in the season. But he is wrestling great as of late he took out 7 seed DeSanto at EIWA's and took Parker (6th seed) to TB before losing in the championship match. Tucker has been wrestling well. If he wins Bridges is the 8 seed and has also been doing well as of late. If he manages to get past them, then he has Gross. Overall I think this is a very tough road.

141 - Brent has been wrestling great as of late. Smith is a tough opponent. If he can get past him, then he should have a rematch against Jack. I hope he can stay hot. If he loses early, then I do like him in the first two wrestlebacks.

149 - I like Ryan's first round match. If he can find a way to get past Hayes I really like his path forward. If he falls to Hayes I like his wrestlebacks a lot. If things go to seed he would face Deakin in the Bloodround. I would feel good about his NCAA's if he can get to there.

165 - David has a pretty good road. He has a chance to pull some bonus points in the first two matches (he majored both of them handledly in the season), which is huge to the team score. With that said I really don't like Massa in the Quarters. He is coming off of an injury, but he is a 4-5 seed when healthy, he did finish 3rd last year at NCAA's. With that said 165 is a tough weight class so he is going to have to earn it.

174 - I think it is horrible that they paired two wrestlers that were in their conference finals in the first round (I know this isn't the only example (see Finesilver/McFadden), but I think Bolen and Ramos are two top 15 wrestlers. It is pity that one of them has to go to WB after 1 round. I think Bolen may have drawn the worst seeding of any VT wrestler. If he manages to win he is going to have a very tough road forward. If he loses to Ramos, then he will most likely face Schany in the WB. So he should be able to get a few points there and have a decent shot at winning the next round, if seeds hold it would be Subjek. Who he only lost to 4-1 at the beginning of the season, Bolen has grown a lot since.

184 - ZZ got a really tough first round draw with Coleman, but he got a great seeding. If he is an AA then he has to beat wrestlers like Coleman, so mind as well get it out of the way first. After Coleman I really like him working his way to Preisch. Of all of the wrestlers ranked ahead of him, I like this match up best. He only lost in SV earlier in the season. I think he has a real shot to win that and get in the Semi's. If he can do that he gets Martin in the finals... the same Martin that he stunned at CK last season. Let's hope this is the year that ZZ lives up to his potential at NCAA's.

197 - I am very surprised at the seeding at 197. I think Haught made out better than anyone else. He gets Wilcke after round one, who he has proven he can beat. He would then get Milkus, which he will want revenge, after getting stuck while trying to get the MD for the team. After that he would get the tough but yet untested Freshman. I really do like his chances. On the other side of the bracket Moore has to face Mach., who just recently beat him. Mach. is a really tough match up for Moore. I really do like Haughts chances to get our first NC here. He just needs to step up and get it done.

285 - Dunn did get a tough draw, but he had every opportunity towards the end of the year to beat some ranked wrestlers and gain a better seeding. He is young though and does have lots of potential. If he shows up as the aggressive wrestler that attacked Solomon after going down early, then I think he has a chance to bring home some points for the Team.

Overall I think our Hokie's got some decent seeding, with the exception of Gus., Bolen, and then ZZ's first round. The guys just need to go out and wrestle to their full potential. Let's go get'em.
