I think this dovetails nicely with all of the talk about Patrick Reed's past and the public's perception of him, and I am guilty of assuming all that has been said completely defines who he is. You make a great point that human beings are complex, and can possess some very positive traits while at the same time being quite unpleasant to interact with.

I try to spend a few minutes of my morning commute in prayer, and over time I've developed a very specific prayer that I like to say, a portion of which centers on striving to not judge other people on a brief interaction or snapshot of their personality. It's something that I fail at regularly, but I have found that when I am disciplined about my daily prayer, I do have more patience with other people and am more apt to try to understand their point of view. I've also found that "meditating" on this idea helps me to give folks the benefit of the doubt that a brief lack of composure does not necessarily paint an accurate portrait of their true personality. I certainly know that there are multiple times each day that I would not want my speech/behavior to be used to frame who I am.

Thanks for your thoughtful reminder that we are not defined by single moments in time, and that when we strive to see the good in other people, we can put our differences with them aside and form relationships based on mutual respect.
