So I have been holding my company 401k profit sharing contribution ...

in cash waiting for a good opportunity to buy. There have been some decent opportunities but then the market has a wild upswing so I don't pull the trigger.

I know the old adage - don't try to time the market, but in this instance I will be stubborn. I do think there is enough instability right now with a number of factors (China, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Mueller, Stormy (won't unshun on work laptop), the Fed, first quarter earnings, looming DOJ/FBI IG report, etc) that I think we could continue to see wild swings for quite a while. I am willing to gamble that I could miss a huge upswing waiting for a bigger downswing. Haven't seen such an extended period of wild volatility in a very long time. In other words, I'm ok holding some cash right now. I rebalanced about 5% of my portfolio when the Dow was at 25k so I'm already ahead.
