Not so fast my friend ...metal fillings last twice as long as composite

resin fillings (research backed). why would I do a filling that might last ten years when I can do one that will last 20 years?? They aren't as attractive (true) but are much harder to get new decay around them. Every time you have to replace a filling the hole gets bigger and the tooth gets weaker. Crowns, root canals, extractions, bridges and implants are next.....

Call me old school ....I give my patients choices but encourage amalgam fillings on back chewing teeth. I've got fillings running around town that are 35 years old....
