Dollies work fine, but is the car front wheel drive or rear wheel drive?
if it is front wheel drive just drive it up on it and make sure the parking brake is not set, good to go. If it is rear wheel drive you have to haul it backwards which means you have to lock down the steering wheel to keep it from side steering. I would use the trailer in that situation, much easier. For the trailer brake issue you usually only get any trailer stability issues when the weight of the trailer is much greater than the tow vehicle. In your situation I doubt that would occur but if you are worried about it just keep the speed down some and leave lots of room for stopping distance. I find it hard to beleive that the uhaul trailers do not have trailer brakes tho, they are pretty much require on any double axle trailer.
