I saw a replay of one on TV once and you are right it was interesting


I was surprised there weren't more wrecks or contact at the intersection. If the cars or trucks tried to race on a figure 8 track, then I suspect there would be quite a few red flags because of wrecks at the intersection until the field was reduced to maybe 10-15 vehicles. Also, I suspect drivers have a greater risk of being seriously injured and I don't think NASCAR would like to have a season where over half of the superstar drivers are out for most/all of the season due to injury and its champion ends up being some no name (i.e. Gray Gaulding). That may be worse than the season when Kenseth won his championship without winning a single race.
