Interior doors suck


Like just about every house today, my home was built with standard sized prehung doors. I have to replace one that got damaged.

So I goes to the Home Depot and buys a pre-cut door. Low and behold, it is slightly wider than the existing (both are spec-ed at 28") and the passage lockset hole is cut 3/4" lower than mine. No way to make it work.

So I goes BACK to the Home Depot and buys a pre-hung door, thinking I can take the door out of the frame and put it in the existing frame. Low and behold again, the HINGES are in different places than mine.

So there is no such thing as a standard pre-hung door. Everybody's pre-hung door is slightly different. And there is no such thing as a replacement door for a pre-hung door. I have to rip the old door, frame and trim out, and install the entire pre-hung door.
