For as easy as it is rumored to be to purchase a firearm, boy am I having

trouble.

So my driver's license was set to expire, so I went online to renew it (like I've done probably 5x before). System said I couldn't renew online and I had to go to the DMV. Fine.

Go to the DMV. Apparently all they needed to do was take a new picture. Fine. Take a new picture, and they will mail me my new ID.

But wait...they take my old ID (that technically hasn't expired yet) and stamp it VOID. They say don't worry about it, here is a printed receipt you can show if anyone needs to see your ID. Fine.

A few days later, I spot a Ruger 10/22 rifle on sale for a decent price. Been wanting one for awhile, so I go to buy it. Except they can't sell it to me with a voided ID. They explain they had a similar case a few months ago, and the state police went on a rant about how the DMV should NEVER void an ID without the person having the replacement in-hand.

But they are nice about it, give me a rain check, and agree to honor the sales price when I get my valid ID.

New ID shows up today. Return to the store to get the Ruger. Now they say they can't sell a firearm when the ID has been issued in the last 30 days.

Grrr.
