There are two off campus dorms at W&M that were part of Eastern State

The vestibule as you walk in is in essence unchanged. Very 1940s institutional. Lots of doors and hallways blocked off for practicality but it adds to the creepiness.

Summer of 2000 or so I had a summer job installing ethernet cable in institutions like schools and hospitals. One job took us, sure enough, to Eastern State. Even then it was barely in use, mostly as a transitional facility for people who had been imprisoned but needed to learn "life on the outside" for a near future release. The job usually required a fair amount of rummaging to get access to the ceiling where we ran the cables. In one closet we found a box full of XXL VPRJ jumpsuits. It was a little too on the nose, like a halloween haunted house. The place smelled to high heaven from not being used, too.
