Cousin fell quickly in love with a guy she met on tinder.


She was in Denver and our family is mostly in VA. They got engaged in two months, she was pregnant in 3 and married in 4.

He turned out to be a total psychopath. Pathological liar that claimed he was on the olympic rowing team. He was a good collegiate rower until he failed out of school and was never actually on the olympic team.
He slowly cut her off from the rest of the family. Told her that they didn't love her and only he cared for her. He'd listen in to all of her phone calls with everyone. Became violent with her dog. He actually killed his dog with a pistol to the head because it had become aggressive towards someone(yikes). Her parents were in near despair as everyone else saw what was happening but her.

Her parents figured out that he'd been married at least once before and had done this same sort of thing. They had talked with his parents and his mother seemed as crazy as he was. His father seemed rational and through some discussions it was clear his father knew he had issues and that he was a pathological liar. But they didn't get much support from him beyond that.

Anyway, cousin had cut the family off and ended up having the baby. I think that event changed her. Mmy aunt wanted to come visit the baby(obviously) and visited her in Tennessee(they'd moved). The baby was maybe a few weeks/months old. When she did, she convinced my cousin to come back with her "just for a few days, maybe a week" to just help her with her new baby. Cousin agreed and my aunt crammed as much of my cousins' things and baby things into her minivan(knowing that she would hopefully never return) and drove away as fast as possible before the crazy hubby came home. My cousin told him that she'd gone to Virginia via text message when she was already on the road. Anyways, cousin saw the light after being home for a few days and never went back.

She filed for divorce and they got him to agree in writing to never try to be a part of hers or the child's life and in return, they won't seek child support. That was a wild year and a half.
