I've driven through Gary, the birthplace of Michael Jackson.

It's rough. It was founded by US Steel, and once had a population of nearly 200,000. Now it's down to about 75,000.

Some of the old buildings where people used to work in the steel industry have been converted to government housing. People are literally living where they used to work.

Ugly city, dilapidated, and I was glad to pass through without stopping.
