I had to take a different prep (no pills, just liquid)....
...I think it was called Suprep...but it kicked in almost IMMEDIATELY for me. I mean, within in 15-20 minutes, I was glued to the toilet. I think it required 2-3 doses, and after each dose, I pretty much didn't leave the bathroom for 1-2 hours. I believe I started my prep around 6:00 PM and was in the bathroom almost constantly until at least 11:00 PM or midnight.
I've only had one colonoscopy (had it done last year at 35 as a precaution because I have Celiac disease) and like you, I had no idea what to expect. A co-worker of mine summed it up very succinctly (graphically, but succintly): he said to expect to have violent diarrhea like you've never experienced before, and likened it to spitting out water as hard as you can through a drinking straw. I found that to be incredibly accurate. Enjoy!
P.S. - in all seriousness, the prep was by far the worst part. The procedure was a breeze. Once they administer the anaesthesia, you will be out within 5 seconds and the next thing you know, it will be time to get dressed and go back home. Good luck....you'll be fine.
